     What makes Spokane a great place to live? Picnics by the river…  the Rose Garden at Manito … softball games at Franklin Park… swimming at Comstock… carrousel rides beneath the Clock Tower…  family reunions at Mission Park…
     Chances are the images that first come to mind are from the 125 parks that help define our community. For generations, countless individuals and families have created memories in the gardens, trails and walkways that set this city apart from any other place. Thanks to the vision of the women and men who built our parks, we have inherited a park system of almost 4,000 acres that is a natural treasure.

     As a community, we support a truly exceptional parks system with spaces and services available and accessible to all. Public funding however is limited. To continue the vision of the generations who bequeathed this legacy, the Spokane Parks Foundation provides the additional dollars needed to do more.
     Since 1951, the Foundation has helped increase access and enjoyment for those with special needs, restore landmarks and expand facilities. From planting trees to providing sports equipment, the Foundation is dedicated to preserving our parks and our recreational opportunities for generations to come.

     We enjoy our parks today. What about tomorrow?
     As Spokane continues to grow, will we set aside places for picnics and playgrounds amid new development? Will we preserve for our children and grandchildren the quiet trails, gardens and open fields we now enjoy with family and friends? Will we continue the vision our city founders had for places of beauty, rest and recreation?
     It is up to us to be stewards of our parks, to make sure that this precious legacy is maintained and enhanced for those who come after us. What we do today will define the kind of community Spokane will be in 50 or 100 years. Please help our parks.

     Your bequest or donation will help our parks thrive. You can be sure your gift will be used to make a significant difference in the quality of life in our community. As an independent foundation, we provide funding for projects that will benefit the entire region.
