It's all about Tom
This month we check in with Tom Schoesler, SPF Board Member and chair of our Grant Allocations Committee. His committee is currently reviewing applications for our 2016 grant awards - the perfect time to check-in with him!
What do you do with your non-Foundation time?
My non-foundation time is spent as a full time fire Lieutenant with Spokane County Fire District #9. My wife Melanie and I spend most of time supporting our 3 daughters in the myriad of activities they participate in.
What brought you to the Foundation?
My longtime friend Ron McGregor invited me to join the Foundation. I felt that this would be a wonderful way to give back to a community that has provided so much to my family.
What role do you play with the Foundation?
My role with the Foundation is as Board member and Grants Committee Chair.
What interests you most about our work?
The most interesting part of the Foundations work for me is the grant awards process. It is a very difficult task to determine who is more deserving of the Foundations grant dollars amongst so many very worthy causes.
What one thing would you most like to see the Parks Foundation tackle?
I truly believe that the Foundation is on a path to becoming the go to organization for parks related funding. That is a credit to the hard work of the many committee volunteers and Board members and the leadership of Heather. This is a great group of people and the future is bright.
