Jill isn't afraid to stop and smell the roses!

Jill has been a volunteer for the Parks Foundation for about 5 years now...first on our Marketing Committee, but in 2015 she joined our Board! Let's learn more about Jill and why she likes parks so much...

**

Before you were on the board, you were a volunteer on the Parks Foundation’s Marketing Committee. What drew you to start volunteering for the Foundation?

I have given my time and energy to many organizations in Spokane, but the Foundation is one that has been a bright spot in my philanthropic  endeavors. The Foundations work to support the community we all live in and enhance the parks we use everyday is a positive and energetic force I am thrilled to be a part of.

What do you think is the most important outcome of the Foundation’s work?

I think two of the most important outcomes of the Foundation is, first, the Foundations ability to be a fiscal partner to so many neighborhood communities that are working to improve and grow their local parks. Also, the continuous work to grow our communities parks and knowledge of the amazing outdoor spaces we have in our County.

What is your favorite park?

That is a hard questions! I love so many aspects the Spokane park system has to offer. If I had to pick, I would say Manito park. It can take my family from splashing in the splash pad, fish spotting at the Japanese gardens, smelling lilacs, turtle hunting, to a picnic among the roses!

Lastly, what is your favorite park memory?

I was married on Canada Island in the heart of Riverfront Park. It was the perfect day with a mix of outdoor elegance with downtown Spokane flair (and a quick trip on the carousel). It cannot get better than that!
